Most of your hygiene care products contain chemicals such as Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) or its milder form Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES) which is commonly used as engine degreaser and can be very harmful. And you don't have to take my word for it; here is the definition from the Webster dictionary:
sodium lauryl sulfate - a caustic detergent useful for removing grease; although commonly included in personal care items (shampoos and toothpastes etc.) it can irritate skin and should not be swallowed.
Unfortunately this definition doesn't mention the fact that SLS and SLES contain very small particles that can and do penetrate your skin and get right into your blood flow eventually depositing in vital organs such as your heart, liver, lungs and brain. It can also cause hair loss, teeth damage and abnormal eye development in small kids.
Should I go on? How about Talc? It has been linked to pulmonary problems, lung cancer, skin cancer and ovarian cancer. In fact in 1993, a US National Toxicology Program report found that repeated exposure to talc caused tumours in rats. And we put this poison all over our babies! (what do you think most baby powders are made of?)
