If I were to tell you that most of the food and drinks you consume are junk would you be surprised? Of course, not. You already know that from Supersize Me and Fast Food Nation.

And what if I told you that the air we breathe leaves much to be desired, would you be surprised? Obviously not. This notion was probably drilled into your head since elementary school in bio and environment classes.

But what if I told you that your dandruff shampoo is the one causing your dandruff? Or that your shaving gel and soap are made of the same stuff engine degreasers are made of? Or that your moisturizer covers your skin with a layer of chemicals that do not allow your skin to breathe and the only reason you feel moisture is because your skin starts sweating and that sweat is absorbed back into it? Ewwwwwww!

Not convinced? Let me make it more specific. Most of your hygiene care products contain chemicals such as Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) or its milder form Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES) which is commonly used as engine degreaser and can be very harmful. And you don't have to take my word for it; here is the definition from the Webster dictionary:

sodium lauryl sulfate - a caustic detergent useful for removing grease; although commonly included in personal care items (shampoos and toothpastes etc.) it can irritate skin and should not be swallowed.

Unfortunately this definition doesn't mention the fact that SLS and SLES contain very small particles that can and do penetrate your skin and get right into your blood flow eventually depositing in vital organs such as your heart, liver, lungs and brain. It can also cause hair loss, teeth damage and abnormal eye development in small kids.

Should I go on? How about Talc? It has been linked to pulmonary problems, lung cancer, skin cancer and ovarian cancer. In fact in 1993, a US National Toxicology Program report found that repeated exposure to talc caused tumours in rats. And we put this poison all over our babies! (what do you think most baby powders are made of?)
poison
SLS, SLES and Talc are just a few of many other harmful ingredients we are exposed to daily in our hygiene care products. Ingredients such as Alcohol, Aluminum, Colorings, Bentonite, Kaolinite, Diethanolamine (DEA), Triethanolamine (TEA), Propylene Glycol, Toluene, Sodium Fluoride, Benzyl, etc.

Now you must be thinking: But I only use the good and known brands, not some unknown cheap crap. Well, here is some 'good and known' brands that I found in my bathroom:

Head & Shoulders: SLS, SLES
Vichy cleanser: SLES
Gillette shaving gel: Triethanolamine, Propylene Glycol
Axe Shower gel: SLES
Herbal Essences: Propylene Glycol
Pantene hairspray: Propylene Glycol
Gillette deodorant: Aluminum, Propylene Glycol
L'Oreal foundation: Talc
Colgate toothpaste: SLS

But you don't have to take my word for it. In fact I challenge you to get up right now and take a closer look into the products in your bathroom. Go ahead! I dare you! ______________________________________________________________________________________________

Now you might not have much control over the air you breathe. And avoiding all junk food in today's society is practically impossible as well. However you can definitely control what you put on your skin, teeth and hair. Now you must be wondering: if all the products in the stores contain harmful ingredients, what do I use then? Well, have you heard about Neways?

safetyNeways is a company dedicated to produce products that are safe for people as well as for the environment. It does not use any potentially harmful or controversial ingredients such as the ones mentioned above. And unlike many other companies that do not even state the ingredients (or the entire list of ingredients) on their products, Neways has nothing to hide. Not only it states the full list of ingredients on its products but also makes this information available in their online catalogues.

Neways has its own scientific advisory board (SAB) made out of 4 distinguished and highly qualified scientists whose job is to make sure that Neways' products remain free of any potentially harmful ingredients. In addition, the Neways SAB website contains a science library, ingredients glossary, multimedia and much more. And if that is not enough, Neways distributors can actually communicate with the SAB via the website for any questions and additional information.
no animalrecycle
Neways is not only concerned with the well-being of people but with the well-being of animals and the environment. That's why none of Neways' products are tested on animals and all of Neways' products containers are recyclable.

So now you know the ugly truth about your beauty and hygiene products. And you know what you can do about it. The choice is obviously yours, but will you actually continue consciously poisoning yourself and your family? Well, as I said, it's your choice!
